I think we are a little strict about TV. Zoe can watch in th morning for about one hour (more if she wakes up really early) and then after nap we will put in a educational or approved movie. We watch no Tv infront of her accept for the Simpsons (Husbands Doing)

I think TV is a lot more educational than when we were kids. And it's ok if you make smart choices. Sponge Bob is not a smart choice - but it's the only thing on when I'm making dinner lately. I should probably put in a movie instead.

I really watch NO tv in front of Jake except for Scrubs, or "mama's show, scrubs" as Jake calls it. I honestly have sat watching The Backyardigans even when Jake was not here. It's habit.

But I do find that the more TV Jake watches, the less inclined he is to play by himself. He'd rather be lazy and watch TV.

We struggle with this constantly. Luke watches in the morning because he is up around 5, and it's very painful. We have tivo and a large library of videos so they are never watching live tv with commercials etc. I use it as a babysitter to prepare meals, and shower, and often just to get some PEACE AND QUIET for 15 minutes. I would say luke watches over an hour each day, and nora is probably the same. They watch portions of movies (disney stuff) or baby einstein videos in the morning, sometimes a show (Diego, Dora, Jojo's Circus, Backyardigans, Little Einsteins, Wonder Pets, and my favorite: Wow Wow Wubbzy) before or after lunch, and when they wake up from their naps...I try to keep it to about 15 minute spurts but now Nora wants to watch an entire movie in one sitting. I have to secretly fast forward when she's not looking. I agree with Shannon-I think programs are better than what we had growing up. We hardly ever watch tv in front of the kids..the occasional Red Sox game, or news. We wait until they are in bed.

I will say that the less tv they watch, the better they are at playing. We have periods-weeks or months, where there is too much tv, then times like the past few weeks where it's almost never on. I'm not sure we can use it as a bargaining tool though?
